It’s Monday, and the first full week of daily designing. This week I’m going to design to the theme of essential elements. You remember the periodic table right? Well this week we’ll meet some of it’s most important members.
First up is carbon. Carbon is the essential building block of all known life, the chemicals in your body are based on chains of carbon. Carbon is also the petrol in your car, the diamond in your ring, the plastic in your cupboard, and, most importantly for today, the graphite in your pencil:

Where would we be without graphite? Still poisoning ourselves with lead.

I’m loving this design… definitely gave me a highschool flashback with the carbon and the pencil. I also liked that the pencil path gave a real science feel.
